High School Summer Camp Group Leader
(Summer 2020-present)
For the past four years at DeBakey, I have been a Group Leader for the annual camp for freshmen, Viper Camp!
Having attended nine different schools myself, often enrolling in the middle of the term, I understand how it feels to be placed in a new environment. I do my very best to be the first welcoming friend for the incoming underclassmen!
Administrative Assistant and Camp Leader
(June 2023-July 2024)
In the summer of 2023, I took on two roles at the Texas Hearing Institute- Administrative Assistant and Camp Leader!
In the speech clinic, I was able to help scan and shred patient records. I learned a lot about the importance of HIPAA and patient confidentiality in the healthcare system.
As a camp leader, I helped set up the camp and prepare activities for the campers. I also communicated in American Sign Language with a young camper who did not use English as her first language!
Growing up in a family where English is not the first language, I've realized that language is the bridge for any form of knowledge to cross. In the future, I hope to be fluent in American Sign Language, a language that deeply fascinates me. :)
